Community

We wouldn’t be here without the incredible vendors, chefs, and customers who support our market. Here are a few of the amazing organizations that help us serve you.

SEcond Helpings

Driving Out Hunger One Mile at a Time.

Since 2004, Second Helpings Atlanta’s community of volunteers has been picking up surplus, nutritious, perishable and frozen prepared food from grocery stores, big box retailers, corporate dining halls, hospitals, and large events and delivering it to the many front-line agencies in the Metro Atlanta area that feed the hungry every day. The food we rescue every day gets diverted from landfills and is used to feed those in need, making Atlanta a more environmentally responsible metropolitan area.

INDIVIDUAL SCHOLARSHIPS + CONTINUING EDUCATION GRANTS

Since 2001, the Atlanta Chapter of Les Dames d'Escoffier International has been pleased to offer annual Scholarships for Education and Continuing Education Grants to female applicants pursuing culinary or pastry arts, farming, beverage management, hospitality, or agriculture coursework.

LDEI Atlanta provides thousands of dollars of funding to local organizations each year. They specifically focus on helping organizations working in the areas of: green tables/farming, global culinary initiatives, the culinary community and programs that teach cooking, nutrition or support anti-hunger work.

The LDEI main fundraiser is their Afternoon in the Country.

Slow Foods Atlanta

Slow Food Atlanta is a local chapter of Slow Food that celebrates Good, Clean and Fair food for all in our community.

Slow Food is a global, grassroots organization, founded in 1989 to prevent the disappearance of local food cultures and traditions, counteract the rise of fast life and combat people’s dwindling interest in the food they eat, where it comes from and how our food choices affect the world around us.

Wholesome WAve Georgia

Wholesome Wave Georgia believes that all Georgians should have access to fresh, wholesome, and locally-grown food. Through their Fresh For Less program, our market is able to match SNAP/EBT dollars. When users spend $10, they get $10 for free to spend on fresh, local fruits and vegetables. Beneficiaries pay less for fresh and local food that is higher quality and more nutritious. Shopping from our local farmers puts that food money back into our community.

The Southern Chefs Potluck is WWGA’s main fundraiser.

Georgia Organics

Georgia Organics connects organic food from Georgia farms to Georgia families. They are an incredibly wide ranging organization. If you like food, chances are they’ve had a hand in something that has touched your plate. Consult their website for the best way to support them.

CompostNow

CompostNow, collectively, is are a bunch of Dirt Dorks, Route Wranglers, and Soil Singers. But individually, they are farmers, artists, technologists, social workers, musicians, poets, community activists, mothers and fathers working together to reimagine food waste management and rebuild our depleted soils. Their vision is to close the loop on food waste by empowering community members and local businesses to divert compostables from the landfill and build nutrient-rich soil.
