Freedom Farmers Market at the Carter Center was formed in 2014 by a small group of Georgia farmers with one vision: bring local, sustainably grown food to intown Atlanta neighborhoods.
The market, now open year-round, offers a wide range of organic, local products including: fresh produce, grass fed meats, dairy including cheeses, yogurt, butter, milk, farm fresh eggs, handmade pasta and preserves, baked goods, coffee and more. Each market March- December features live music, a kid's tent, and a local chef with hot prepared foods. The market also holds monthly events featuring the fruit or vegetable of the season.
The market’s name, Freedom, has a double meaning. It’s located steps away from the Freedom Park Trail. It also represents a sense of independence—for shoppers, and also for farmers, who manage the market through an independent board.
Accessibility is an important goal of Freedom Farmers Market. Neighbors can reach the market by walking or biking, riding MARTA, or driving. FFM partners with Wholesome Wave Georgia in the Georgia Fresh 4 Less program which allows us to double SNAP dollars our shoppers spend. The diverse communities surrounding the Carter Center makes Freedom Farmers Market a place to gather with familiar friends and meet new ones.
Find us at the Carter Center every Saturday from 9 a.m. ‘til 1 p.m. We can’t wait to see you on market day!
get it while it's fresh
18 hours. That's how long most of the produce has been out of the ground. Our farmers pack the night before, get some sleep, then drive it in.
Freedom Farmers’ Market utilizes a token system in order to accept Debit, Credit and SNAP/EBT cards. Even though all farmers take cash, this convenient token system allows our neighbors who use SNAP/EBT (formerly known as food stamps) to shop for healthy food using federal benefits and our shoppers who run out of cash to pick up those last few items. It’s a win-win for farmers and shoppers!

The Freedom Farmers' Market is teaming up with Wholesome Wave Georgia to double SNAP dollars. SNAP users should scan their EBT cards at the Market Tent and ask for the amount they'd like deducted from their accounts. The Market will present them with tokens, then double the number. The tokens can be used at any booth in the Market. Thanks Wholesome Wave!
